Hurley Cricket Club has been identified as a Focus Club by Berkshire Cricket in recognition of the club's desire to put in a place a structured and safe youth cricket programme and work towards Clubmark status.  Clubmark is the ECB and Sport England national accreditation scheme that sees to recognise safe, effective and child friendly practices within clubs. 

With it come a range of benefits not least the profile the scheme brings and the positive messages it sends to the local community, schools, community groups, local authorities and other local funding agencies about the quality and safety of a club's youth section.  The first step in Hurley's work towards Clubmark status is to establish a club development plan with key goals including:
  • achieving Clubmark status
  • establishing 2 new youth teams in 2010 at Under 11 and Under 15 in addition to the already succesful U17 team
  • getting 5 club members qualified with ECB cricket level 2 coaching qualification
Hurley will be working closely with Mark Roche, the Cricket Development Manager for Berkshire to push forward with the club's exciting development plan. The club has set out a commitment to continue to improve the alreeady outstanding facilities down at the scenic Hurley ground in addition to contuning the progression of youth cricketers into the adult teams.  Hurley already has several youngsters starting to make their names in the clubs senior teams.
